This poster
is designed for a Fortnum and Mason themed hamper. The London store is famous
for its hamper selections and has a rich history dating back to the early 19th
century.
The theme
is ‘Eject & Survive’ and was inspired by my work on fighter aircraft. It is
an unusual subject, and not in the mainstream of explorers or aviators and such
like. However, I thought it could make an interesting subject as long as it was
made to appeal to the shopping audience of F & M.
The feel of
the poster and associated materials is designed to reflect a degree of
1940’s/50’s nostalgia, with the idea of the Information Leaflet coming from old
pilots notes. The age old practice of tea staining paper, with some Photoshop
enhancement, was used to create the
effect. This ‘dated’ look is contrasted by a ‘techno’ element created by the
use of a modern look depicting an ‘augmented reality’ style
projection. The idea is to present
contrasting styles which complement each other. The added bonus is that this
style can appeal to both older and younger generations, thereby catering for a
wide target market sector.
